What’s the IXPE Pad Underlayment？

IXPE is a premium acoustical underlayment made up of sound dampening high-performance cross-linked foam

with an overlapping film for extra moisture protection at its joints. The extra fine foam offers advanced moisture protections and shock absorption.

Why the floor need the IXPE Pad Underlayment？

If you are installing the laminate flooring in an area that receives little attention such as a mudroom or laundry room,

and you simply need to quickly install cheap flooring, laminate flooring can be installed without underlayment.

The flooring must be perfectly flat and featureless: no nails, screws, bumps, or dips.

Without underlayment to add a layer between these damp floor and the surface flooring,

your laminate can quickly become wet, warped, and mildewy, harming its overall integrity.

Moisture over time can also break down floor adhesive which causes the floor to start warping

Waterproof

IIC specifically relates to impact-related sounds, such as footsteps,the main sound element an underlayment can control (airborne sound, such as loud music, is rated using a different metric called STC, and in almost all cases requires a suspended ceiling to significantly mitigate).

Due to the closed-cell nature of IXPE, it is an excellent insulator and, in fact, is used primarily for its insulation properties in many other industries.

How to laminate the IXPE Pad Underlayment to the floor?
